This is the next destination in my bucket list when all this shit with COVID-19 outbreak will end and life get back to normal
When reading fictional books we forget about reality and our imagination transfers us into a narrative. We imagine ourselves in the role of the main character, we start living his life and see the world through his eyes.
I am no exemption. I was reading books about Vikings since I was thirteen. I would imagine myself as a fearless warrior, what kind of life he would have, what kind of training he would do, and dive into the atmosphere of the early Middle Ages.
I very much doubt I would ever trade our comfortable 21st-century life for a dubious quality of life in 900 AD. Supermarkets on every corner, low-cost flights, and high-speed internet compared to no dentists, huge infant mortality and fucked up neighbors, who want to kill you in every obscure situation.
But for a few days, why not? We can time-travel 1000 years back into the past and feel the vibe of the Early Medieval Viking settlement by visiting Njardarheimr village, in Gudvangen, Norway.
It looks pretty authentic. I’m using photos from the internet and won’t be using too many of them due to the copyright stuff. Once I get there, I’ll update the article with my own photos.
You can find more information about this village on their official website.
They have places to stay around the village and I’ll definitely stay in Fjordtell for a few nights, it looks dope!
They have a whole bunch of activities for Viking enthusiasts of any age or gender. I’ll for sure try to forge something, will throw an ax, and give it a go at shooting a bow.
Can’t wait to get there!
